Asphalt Paving in New Holland, PA

Asphalt Paving Experts in New Holland, PA

Five Star Asphalt is the local paving contractor New Holland homeowners and businesses call for driveway paving, sealcoating, and parking lot work — backed by real PennDOT-standard base preparation, not just a fresh top coat.

Why New Holland’s Limestone Karst Terrain Matters for Your Pavement

New Holland is an eastern Lancaster County borough on the county’s documented karst terrain, with a mix of small-town streets and surrounding farm properties. Every driveway and lot in our service area goes through the same brutal cycle each winter: Southeastern Pennsylvania sees 25-35 freeze-thaw cycles per season, and PennDOT officially defines the Freeze/Thaw Period as February 15 through April 15 in Publication 23. Water gets into small cracks, freezes, expands about 9%, and widens the crack — repeat that thirty times a winter and a quarter-inch crack becomes a pothole by spring.

Do you pave both borough streets and farm lanes near New Holland?
We handle private driveways and lots — both borough residential and rural farm-access work.

Fun Facts About New Holland, PA

Pennsylvania Dutch Heritage and Agricultural Equipment Community

Serving New Holland’s Agricultural Infrastructure Since Three Generations
New Holland’s agricultural equipment heritage and Pennsylvania Dutch residential community creates distinct industrial-cultural paving challenges that residential contractors simply don’t understand. Our team has completed over 250 agricultural residential and equipment district projects and understands the specific requirements for supporting family residential operations and agricultural industry activities. The area’s equipment facilities and residential operations require specialized residential paving and industrial accommodation systems that prevent the settlement issues plaguing many agricultural installations.

New Holland, PA Success Story

Residential Asphalt Driveway Replacement

Project Snapshot
This New Holland homeowner contacted Five Star Asphalt Paving after years of patching cracks and dealing with uneven sections that kept returning. The driveway had reached a point where surface repairs were no longer effective.

Challenges
Inspection revealed underlying base failure in multiple areas, caused by water infiltration and long-term settling. Resurfacing or overlays would have only delayed further breakdown. The challenge was rebuilding the driveway correctly to prevent repeat issues.

Solution
The crew removed the existing asphalt, rebuilt the foundation with proper grading and compaction, and installed a new asphalt driveway designed to handle daily residential traffic. Transitions at the garage and street were carefully finished to ensure smooth access and proper drainage.

Results
The new driveway eliminated recurring cracks and settling, providing a stable, long-lasting surface. Ongoing maintenance is now straightforward, with no need for repeated patchwork.

“They explained why repairs wouldn’t last and fixed what was underneath. That made the difference.”

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I had a seal coating by another company last summer and it all peeled off by this spring. I did some research and learned that we should have used oil-based sealcoating for several reasons. It last longer, keeps the driveway softer, it penetrates rather than sitting on top. The main education was from the five-star paving team. I also spoke to two other paving contractors who said the same thing before I talked to Five Star Paving. Five-star paving came out. They did the job efficient you and we're very congenial. They took a couple of hours. They took great care not to get my grass and they made sure to fill cracks and coat the driveway evenly.

The driveway now looks fabulous and we're hoping to get a several years out of it now. The team at Five Star Paving were fantastic. They worked with us very kindly. I unequivocally recommend Five Star Paving. They are "five star" in my book. We will surely call them next time we need this done.
